Compassionate Care from Our Family to Yours – A Privately Owned Veterinary Clinic

Urgent Care Service

Sometimes your pet needs care sooner rather than later. We offer same-day appointments for urgent issues that are not life-threatening but still require prompt attention. All urgent cases are carefully triaged by our medical team at the time of contact to evaluate their severity and determine the most appropriate course of care.

Brant Paws Veterinary Hospital Favicon

While some concerns can be addressed with medical management or follow-up care, other conditions may necessitate urgent intervention. We are equipped to prioritize and accommodate a range of critical situations based on our clinical assessment and availability. This includes hospitalization for pets who need to remain under close medical supervision for continued monitoring, supportive care, and treatment. We also provide timely surgical intervention for time-sensitive conditions such as pyometra, exploratory laparotomies, cystotomies, cesarean sections, and similar urgent presentations. Our goal is to address emergent situations efficiently while minimizing stress and maximizing safety for both pets and their families.

We treat same-day concerns such as:

  • Vomiting or diarrhea
  • Sudden limping or discomfort
  • Red, squinty, or irritated eyes
  • Ear infections or excessive scratching
  • Minor cuts, swelling, or hot spots
  • Behavior changes or lethargy
  • Loss of appetite or increased drinking/urination
  • Difficulty urinating or defecating
  • Coughing or sneezing with nasal/ocular discharge
  • Lumps or new growths noticed suddenly
  • Injuries sustained from minor accidents
  • Most urgent case surgeries such as suspected pyometra, exploratory laparotomies, cesarean sections, cystotomies, splenectomy, etc. (triaged same-day)

These appointments are limited and offered on a first-call basis. If your pet is experiencing a condition that appears urgent, it’s important to contact us as soon as possible so we can triage their case and determine the most appropriate care pathway. While we handle a wide range of urgent cases in-house, some emergencies may require the resources of a dedicated 24-hour emergency facility.

Common signs that your pet may need urgent veterinary attention include labored breathing, sudden collapse, persistent vomiting or diarrhea, unresponsiveness, or signs of severe pain. Prompt assessment can make a significant difference in the outcome. If your pet is in immediate danger and we are unavailable, we will refer you to a trusted local emergency hospital to ensure timely and appropriate treatments.
